How to Handle Your Human by Miss Maggie
When your human gets out of hand and forgets to freshen your water or change your litter you must reprimand her immediately. Immediate punishment is the only method that will have a lasting effect. If you wait too long to admonish your human, the poor soul might not know why you are punishing her. The best way to discipline a lazy or forgetful human is by refusing to allow her to touch your silken fur or snuggle with you when she watches that big square box she calls a TV. Remember: You must be tough and insist your human abides by your rules. Remember: You are the boss.
Our Human, the Poor Old Soul
A History Lesson by Maggie May
We are royal creatures; we Maine Coon felines. We are not mere house cats…noooo, not The Three Atlanta Cats. We descended from royalty—Queen Marie Antoinette, "Let them eat cake," the Queen of France. (Yes, THAT one, the beheaded one, but that is a story.)
Our Great........Great Grandmother. wink, wink.
Our Great........Great Grandmother. wink, wink.
She knew she was is deep kitty-litter, so she was desperately trying to out-run the henchman, but she was greedy. Instead of just grabbing her kitties and heading for the hills, she was sneaking her favorite things off a little at a time for the Americas. Among those favorite things were—you guessed it—our ancestors. She enlisted the help of Captain Samuel Clough and they loaded six of her prized Turkish Angora cats onto one of his ships for Wiscasset, Maine—thus the name Maine Coon. Upon arrival in Wiscasset, these beautiful and very much unescorted Turkish Angoras began cavorting with the local short-haired breeds in Maine and thus the bred evolved into the gorgeous Maine Coons you are beholding today.

Now, that is one version… Another version is that the beautiful Turkish Angoras fell in love with the native and very wild raccoons roaming Maine. This would definitely explain the ring markings on so many of the Maine Coon cats’ tails and the huge size. Whichever story you believe (maybe both are true), we descended from royalty and expect to be treated as such… and we are.

Maggie the Teacher
Maggie is the best history teacher and can help you with your homework. She is by far the wisest. Maybe because she is from the land of Daniel Boone, or maybe because she spends so much time with her human (the teacher), she knows all about the history of the United States. She also knows all about Marie Antoinette and the Palace at Versailles where it is said, her ancestor-cats were from. She loves famous women in history from Catherine the Great to Queen Elizabeth (and her famous mother) to Queen Elizabeth II. She also loves to meow about Queen Nefertiti, Cleopatra, and her all-time favorite, the Pharaoh Queen Hatshetsut. She quotes Mother Teresa, Eleanor Roosevelt, Dorothy Parker, and Maya Angelou. (I know—she has quite a range.)
She loves to write and is ready to answer your letter.
